  WhenheenteredthehallMesawasseateduponacanvasstool,alittleapartfromtheothers,herchinrestinguponherhand,staringwithanevillooktowardstheplacewhereElissawasenthroned.Nordidherfacegrowmoregentleatthesightofthecunningmerchant,forsheknewwellitwasthroughhisplotsandbriberythatshehadbeenoustedfromhermother’splace.
