  Itwasverybeautiful,andnoveltylentitscharmtothesurprise,forartandnatureworkedaprettymiracleandthecleverimitation,firstheardfromakitchenhearth,nowbecamethefavoriteinacrowdedconcertroom。Phebewasquiteherselfagain;colorinthecheeksnow;eyesthatwanderedsmilingtoandfro;andlipsthatsangasgailyandfarmoresweetlythanwhenshekepttimetoherblithemusicwithascrubbingbrush。

  Thissongwasevidentlyintendedforthechildren,andtheyappreciatedthekindlythought,forasPhebewentbackamongthem,theyclappedecstatically,flappedtheirpinafores,andsomecaughtherbytheskirtswithaudiblerequeststo\"Doitagain,please;doitagain。\"

  SoPhebehadtocome,andstoodtheremeeklybowing,withamovedlookonherfacethatshowedhowgladandgratefulshewas,tillasuddenhushcame;then,asifinspiredbythememoryofthecausethatbroughtherthere,shelookeddownintotheseaoffriendlyfacesbeforeher,withnotraceoffearinherown,andsangthesongthatneverwillgrowold。
