TheobjectiveMindistheabsoluteIdea，butonlyexistinginposse：andasitisthusontheterritoryoffinitude，itsactualrationalityretainstheaspectofexternalapparency。Thefreewillfindsitselfimmediatelyconfrontedbydifferenceswhicharisefromthecircumstancethatfreedomisitsinwardfunctionandaim，andisinrelationtoanexternalandalreadysubsistingobjectivity，whichsplitsupintodifferentheads：viz。anthropologicaldata（i。e。privateandpersonalneeds），externalthingsofnaturewhichexistforconsciousness，andthetiesofrelationbetweenindividualwillswhichareconsciousoftheirowndiversityandparticularity。Theseaspectsconstitutetheexternalmaterialfortheembodimentofthewill。

Butthepurposiveactionofthiswillistorealiseitsconcept，Liberty，intheseexternallyobjectiveaspects，makingthelatteraworldmouldedbytheformer，whichinitisthusathomewithitself，lockedtogetherwithit：theconceptaccordinglyperfectedtotheIdea。Liberty，shapedintotheactualityofaworld，receivestheformofNecessity，thedeepersubstantialnexusofwhichisthesystemororganisationoftheprinciplesofliberty，whilstitsphenomenalnexusispowerorauthority，andthesentimentofobedienceawakenedinconsciousness。
