  myselfaminthesamecategory;forifwelovetalkingatall,weloveabright,fierceadversary,whowillholdhisground,footbyfoot,inmuchourownmanner,sellhisattentiondearly,andgiveusourfullmeasureofthedustandexertionofbattle.Boththesemencanbebeatfromaposition,butittakessixhourstodoit;ahighandhardadventure,worthattempting.Withbothyoucanpassdaysinanenchantedcountryofthemind,withpeople,sceneryandmannersofitsown;livealifeapart,morearduous,activeandglowingthananyrealexistence;andcomeforthagainwhenthetalkisover,asoutofatheatreoradream,tofindtheeastwindstillblowingandthechimney—potsoftheoldbatteredcitystillaroundyou.Jackhasthefarfinermind,Burlythefarmorehonest;Jackgivesustheanimatedpoetry,Burlytheromanticprose,ofsimilarthemes;theoneglanceshighlikeameteorandmakesalightindarkness;theother,withmanychanginghuesoffire,burnsatthesea—level,likeaconflagration;butbothhavethesamehumourandartisticinterests,thesameunquenchedardourinpursuit,thesamegustsoftalkandthunderclapsofcontradiction.
