  Therewasamoment’spause,whentheTypees,withwildshrieks,flungthemselvesintothecovert,spearinhand;norwasTobybehindhand。Comingsoneargettinghisskullbrokenbythestones,andanimatedbyanoldgrudgeheboretheHappars,hewasamongthefirsttodashatthem。Ashebrokehiswaythroughtheunderbrush,trying,ashedidso,towrestaspearfromayoungchief,theshoutsofbattleallofasuddenceased,andthewoodwasasstillasdeath。Thenextmoment,thepartywhohadleftthemsomysteriouslyrushedoutfrombehindeverybushandtree,andunitedwiththerestinlongandmerrypealsoflaughter。
