formerlysaid，theseaffectionsaredivinejustasmuchasothers，foreachspringsfromanaturalcause，andthisdiseasearisesamongtheScythiansfromsuchacauseasIhavestated。Butitattacksothermeninlikemanner，forwhenevermenridemuchandveryfrequentlyonhorseback，thenmanyareaffectedwithrheumsinthejoints，sciatica，andgout，andtheyareineptatvenery。ButthesecomplaintsbefalltheScythians，andtheyarethemostimpotentofmenfortheaforesaidcauses，andbecausetheyalwayswearbreeches，andspendthemostoftheirtimeonhorseback，soasnottotouchtheirprivypartswiththehands，andfromthecoldandfatiguetheyforgetthesexualdesire，anddonotmaketheattemptuntilaftertheyhavelosttheirvirility。
